1. Taurus-Tells and privacy

1.1 Taurus-Tells Limited will receive and record personal information from its customers, subscribers to its newsletter and members of Taurus-Tells Friends so that it may provide services and goods to its customers. If you do not give your personal information to us, we will regrettably be unable to provide you with the services and goods available through our website.

1.2 Taurus-Tells Limited is the data controller for the personal information you give to us. This means that we are responsible for looking after your personal information so that:

  • It is only used lawfully and fairly

  • It is only used for the purposes we tell you about

  • It is kept securely

  • It is only kept for as long as we need it

  • We only take from you as much as we need to provide our services and goods to you and no more

  • You can exercise your legal rights as a data subject in relation to your personal information

  • It is not transferred to a country outside the European Economic Area with inadequate protection for your rights and freedoms in relation to your personal information

2. Lawful and fair

2.1 We take and use your personal information lawfully in accordance with our legitimate interest in running our lifestyle website and selling goods to you online. Without your personal information we would not be able to sell goods to you.

2.2  The personal information we will collect about you will be:

  • Your name (so we know who you are)

  • Your email address (so we can send order confirmations, news and other information to you)

  • Your mobile number (but only if needed for text services including order confirmations)

  • Your postal address (so we can send goods to you)

  • Your date of birth (so we can work out your age, zodiac sign, Chinese year animal, etc. for analysis and marketing purposes)

  • Other personal information you may post in comments on our website

3. Purposes

3.1 We will use your information fairly by telling you the purposes for which we will use it.

3.2 We will use your personal information so that we can:

  • Communicate with you about goods and services you have ordered

  • Where you order goods from us, arrange delivery to your postal address

  • Contact you by email about Taurus-Tells with, news, offers and promotions. If you do not wish to receive marketing emails from us, you can unsubscribe at any time by emailing info@taurus-tells.com.

  • Ask you for feedback about our goods and services

  • Analyse our sales (also taking into account your age, zodiac sign, Chinese year animal, etc.) to increase the appeal of our goods and services to our customers

  • Comply with our legal obligations as a data controller

  • Deal with complaints or legal issues you raise with us

3.3 We will not share your personal information with anyone else without your permission, unless we must for legal reasons, such as:

  • sharing with the police to help prevent or detect crime

  • sharing with HM Revenue and Customs in connection with tax matters

  • where Taurus-Tells Limited or its business is sold to a third party

3.4 We use Squarespace to host our website and store all our customer records for us. This means that Squarespace acts as a data processor for us but it will only use your personal information as authorised by us. Squarespace may also pass your personal information to its own data processors to process on Squarespace’s behalf, see Section 3.3 of the Squarespace Privacy Policy https://www.squarespace.com/privacy/.

4. Secure

4.1 We keep your personal information on Squarespace’s multiple Tier III data centres across the United States (see section 8 below). Squarespace has a security team dedicated to keeping personal information safe. It employs security measures such as using firewalls to protect against intruders, building redundancies throughout its network (so that if one server goes down, another can cover for it) and testing for and protecting against network vulnerabilities.

4.2 Payments made through Taurus-Tells’ website are made either through Stripe or Paypal, which are both compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, for more information see Section 9.3 of the Squarespace Privacy Policy https://www.squarespace.com/privacy/.

5. How long we keep your personal information

5.1 We will keep the personal information you give us in connection with purchases for a year from the last time you purchased anything from us, at which time your personal information will be deleted from all our purchase records.

5.2 We will keep the personal information you give us when you sign up for a newsletter until you tell us you want to unsubscribe from the newsletter. After that, your personal information will be deleted from all our newsletter records within two weeks of you telling us you wish to unsubscribe.

5.3 We will keep the personal information you give us when you sign up to become a member of Taurus-Tells Friends until you tell us you wish to stop being a member. After that, your personal information will be deleted from all our membership records within two weeks of you telling us you no longer wish to be a member.

6. Only as much information as needed and no more

6.1 We will only take the minimum amount of personal information we need to provide the best goods and services to you and only for the purposes we tell you about.

7. Your rights as a data subject

7.1 When we use your personal information, you are a data subject. As a data subject you have certain legal rights. These are:

1.   The right to be informed –

We must tell you how we use your personal information and why and other prescribed information set out in this privacy policy.

2.   The right of access –

We must give you details of all the personal information we hold about you if you request us to. There is no charge for requesting details of your personal information. We must comply with your request within one month of receiving it.

3.   The right to rectification –

You can request us to rectify inaccurate or incomplete personal information we hold about you. We must comply with your request to rectify your personal information within one month of receiving it.

4.   The right to erase –

This is also called the right to be forgotten. It may apply where you have posted a comment on our website but no longer wish to have the comment publicly viewable. We will comply with your request to delete your post within one month of receiving your request to erase your personal information.

5.   The right to restrict processing –

When you tell us that the personal information we hold about you is inaccurate, we cannot use your personal information for any purpose until we have verified its accuracy.

6.   The right to data portability –

You have the right to obtain and reuse your personal data for your own purposes across different services. It is unlikely that you would want to port your personal information to another provider but if you do request details of your transaction history with us, we will provide that information to you on an Excel spreadsheet within one month of your request being made.

7.   The right to object –

You have the right to object to us using and storing your information. If you request us to stop using and storing your personal information, giving the reason why you object, we will delete your personal information within one week of your request. Although we may delete your personal information, we will retain details of any transaction with you which we may need for tax and/or legal reasons.

8.   Rights in relation to automated decision making and profiling –

We do not carry out automated individual decision-making and profiling, so these rights do not apply to our use of your personal information.

8. Transfer out of the European Economic Area

8.1 Squarespace’s servers are based in the United States and therefore your personal information will be transferred out of the European Economic Area. Squarespace is a certified member of the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework which seeks to safeguard your privacy and comes within the EU’s adequacy requirements for transfers out of the European Economic Area, see Section 10 of the Squarespace Privacy Policy https://www.squarespace.com/privacy/.

9. Complaints
